South Florida Chariots

South Florida Chariots

In May, F1 fans, art enthusiasts, and the local community came together at ZEY ZEY Miami to celebrate Mark Delmont’s South Florida Chariots and the spirit of the Miami Formula 1 Grand Prix.

The exhibition, curated by Good Black Art, and documentary, directed by Karan Balaji, reflect on where it all began—before the glamour, the sponsorships, and the global spotlight. Long before F1 arrived, the Carol Mart parking lot transformed on weekends into a local car show, where Miami’s coolest rides took center stage. For Mark, those cars weren’t just vehicles—they were rolling works of art, etched into memory and asphalt alike.

For Mark, car culture isn’t just a subject—it’s a lived history of memories and connection. He grew up working on cars and hanging around garages with his pops, a collector himself, while his brother raced. In this environment, cars were never just transportation—they were expression, identity, and inheritance. South Florida Chariots is a tribute to that world and an exploration of Mark Delmont’s Miami.

This body of work—including The Champ is Here, Two worlds could collide, and Always wanted a Box Chevy—created in collaboration with Esses Magazine and Good Black Art, doesn’t just honor the pageantry of motorsport; it challenges its erasures. What does it mean for Formula 1 to arrive in Miami Gardens when Carol City was already in motion? What gets paved over in the name of progress?

More than a celebration, South Florida Chariots reclaims the story, recentering it on the local community that first defined this cultural language.
