WAITING ROOM

WAITING ROOM

Good Black Art is pleased to announce Waiting Room, the second exhibition in our A (Good) Summer Residency, presented in partnership with Creative Legion in Hudson, NY, opening during Upstate Art Weekend.

Co-curated with artist and designer Braden A. Hollis and designed by Pablo Olguin, the exhibition transitions from external landscapes to the home—exploring how domestic interiors shape creativity and purpose.

Braden A. Hollis.

In March 2024, Braden relocated from Los Angeles to Brooklyn, transforming her home into both studio and subject—a site for reflection, improvisation, and quiet transformation. This exhibition extends that practice, presenting a lived-in space shaped by care and collaboration. Featuring works by Braden and a group of artists and designers, it blurs the line between art and everyday life.

Inspired by Hemsley Winfield, the late concert dancer, Braden embraces a lineage of reflection and redefinition. As John O. Perpener III writes, before a major performance, Winfield “engaged in a reflective period of studying, rehearsing, and redefining his aesthetic goals.” In that same spirit, Braden sees the home as a place for process, play, and purpose—where art and life unfold together.

The opening reception for Waiting Room will take place on Saturday, July 19, from 4–7 PM at Creative Legion, 7 Fairview Avenue, Hudson, NY 12534. The exhibition will remain on view through Monday, September 1.
