Audrey Lyall

"In my life, there is no separation between art and fashion. As someone who actually got into art because of fashion design, I have always felt that fashion is simply another artistic medium just like painting or drawing. Both work together to encapsulate history, emotions, and creativity.”

Audrey Lyall is an interdisciplinary artist from Corte Madera, CA currently residing in Brooklyn, NY. Lyall’s work explores the intersections of beauty standards, body modifications, and beauty traditions across the United States and the African Diaspora.

She uses a plethora of materials such as found objects, items from the beauty supply store, fabric, collaged paper, acrylic paint, watercolor paint, oil pastel, and more. Lyall graduated from Pratt Institute with a B.A. in Critical &Visual Studies, often referencing Black feminist philosophers and critical theorists within her practice.
