"In my life, there is no separation between art and fashion. As someone who actually got into art because of fashion design, I have always felt that fashion is simply another artistic medium just like painting or drawing. Both work together to encapsulate history, emotions, and creativity.”

Audrey Lyall is an interdisciplinary artist from Corte Madera, CA, now based in Brooklyn, NY. Her work explores the intersections of beauty standards, body modification, and beauty traditions across the United States and the African Diaspora, using a wide range of materials, from found objects and beauty supply store items to fabric, collaged paper, acrylic paint, watercolor, and oil pastel.

A graduate of Pratt Institute with a B.A. in Critical and Visual Studies, Audrey often draws on Black feminist philosophy and critical theory within her practice, work she has described elsewhere as maximalist, layering texture, color, and material to expand what a single piece can hold.
