In the initial phase of this exhibition, it was crucial for the artists to have access to research from academics, community leaders, and former residents of The Bottom. During an information session with Dr. Enkeshi El-Amin, Erin was inspired by several moments in their conversation. For "Map of the Bottom," Erin was particularly moved by Dr. El-Amin's words: "First Creek was so embedded in the Bottom that it was a part of how the residents knew their place."
