In their distinct styles, the artists crafted scenes from the dance floor, domestic gatherings, and portraits of friendship and family, along with fragments of Black history, presence, and future, each attempting to articulate the unique identity of their community
Works were available for bidding on Artsy from September 8 through 22, 2022, with digital certificates of title and authenticity backed by Fairchain. A portion of sale proceeds benefited Derrick Adams' The Last Resort Artist Retreat Residency, extending the exhibition's impact in uplifting the Black community beyond the show itself.
To amplify Black voices beyond the gallery walls, the five artists and the exhibition itself were featured in a docu-series, offering a behind-the-scenes look at what it means to be a Black emerging artist in the early stages of a career.
