The Spigot Was a Gathering Place
In the initial phase of this exhibition, it was crucial for the artists to have access to research from academics, community leaders, and former residents of The Bottom. During an information session with Dr. Enkeshi El-Amin, Erin was inspired by several moments in their conversation. For "The Spigot Was a Gathering Place" Erin was particularly moved by Dr. El-Amin's words: ...an important fixture in the community where mothers, aunts, and older sisters would linger to gossip, the men talked about the news of the day, and children pressed their feet in the mud."
