Why Fountain

Graduation is a beginning. For many artists, it’s also when structured support ends.

An MFA gives artists studio space, critique, and a community of peers. After graduation, they enter a complex art market where they’re running a small business, often without the tools a business needs.

Fountain is an annual exhibition, mentorship, and resources program that picks up where graduation leaves off, with a sustained flow of support for artists and the people who champion them. It was founded by students and is stewarded by Good Black Art.

How Fountain helps

Workshops and mentorship on building a sustainable practice: money, legal, marketing, protecting your work, and growing your network. Each will be led by expert partners across arts and culture.

Our intention: helping artists keep the freedom and agency to grow their practice on their own terms.
