Alexander Brewington
Alexander Brewington's artistic journey as a painter began in high school, where an encouraging art teacher first saw his potential. After experimenting with pen and ink, charcoal, digital art, 3D modeling, and printmaking in his early college years, an elective oil painting class reignited his love for the medium and became his artistic home.
Alexander draws from the centuries-long tradition of oil painting, pulling from art history's color schemes, compositions, and mark-making while telling contemporary stories. During his MFA thesis, artists like Francisco Goya, Peter Paul Rubens, and Eugène Delacroix were heavy inspirations, with subject matter alluding to the pandemic, the 2020 riots, and his own personal experience.
