Born in Queens, New York in 1999, Emily Manwaring grew up immersed in music, visual art, and fashion. In her final year of high school, she interned at The Studio Museum in Harlem, where she deepened her connection to Black art history through the work of artists like Kerry James Marshall and Jamel Shabazz.

Emily went on to earn her BFA in Fine Art from The Cooper Union, expanding her practice into sculpture, photography, and ceramics along the way. Her work has been shown at Thierry Goldberg, Great Hall Gallery, Canada, Swivel Gallery, Southampton Arts Center, Breach Miami, and Monti 8 in Italy, and featured in Artnet, Juxtapoz, It's Nice That, ArtDaily, and The New Yorker.
