Jahniah Kum is a West Indian American artist and multidisciplinary painter exploring themes of grief and re-membering through multiple mediums that hold space for loss and becoming. Her works are mainly inspired by the communities she belongs to, intending to amplify the voices within them, often drawing on her own personal photography and family photos.

Jahniah is a 2025 graduate of the Master of Fine Arts in Painting program at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where her interdisciplinary practice centered on grief, loss, and self-portraiture through painting, fiber arts, and printmaking. Her foundation in Africana Studies and studio art at the University at Albany continues to inform her work.
