Kyra Husband
" Exploring themes of assimilation and translation, satisfaction, as well as the concept of art as an act of play, my work functions as an art object as well as a tool for my own efforts of self-recognition and preservation."
Kyra Husbands is an artist from Beacon, NY whose practice explores assimilation, translation, satisfaction, and the grid as a site of both structure and play. Through her self-imposed systems, she investigates how instinct and intention shape her interaction with limitations, using the grid as a grounding framework for introspection, problem-solving, and self-recognition. Each work becomes a spatial record—an encounter with form, material, color, and time.
Husbands earned her BFA in Visual and Critical Studies from the School of Visual Arts in 2022 and currently works between New York City and her hometown of Beacon.
