Stanley Collins
Stanley Collins (b. 1992, Philadelphia, PA) is an interdisciplinary artist, photographer, writer, and musician, and a PhD in sociology from Temple University, where he researched Philadelphia's Fishtown neighborhood through urban sociology and critical geography. He holds an MS in sociology from Oklahoma State University and a BS in economics from Morehouse College.
Collins's photographic practice, spanning portraiture, street photography, and documentary work, is informed by the historical and social conditions shaping human interaction, with particular interest in the lived experiences of Black people and memory. He describes photography as the practice of remembering people, places, and time, an approach visible throughout his North Philly-rooted body of work.
